Good Good Father Lyrics
Oh, I’ve heard a thousand stories
Of what they think You’re like
But I’ve heard the tender whisper
Of love in the dead of night
And You tell me that You’re pleased
And that I’m never alone
You’re a good good Father
It’s who You are, it’s who You are, it’s who You are
And I’m loved by You
It’s who I am, it’s who I am, it’s who I am
Oh, and I’ve seen many searching
For answers far and wide
But I know we’re all searching
For answers only You provide
‘Cause You know just what we need
Before we say a word
You’re a good good Father
It’s who You are, it’s who You are, it’s who You are
And I’m loved by You
It’s who I am, it’s who I am, it’s who I am
‘Cause You are perfect in all of Your ways
You are perfect in all of Your ways
You are perfect in all of Your ways to us
You are perfect in all of Your ways
Oh, You are perfect in all of Your ways
You are perfect in all of Your ways to us
Oh, it’s love so undeniable
I, I can hardly speak
Peace so unexplainable
I, I can hardly think
As You call me deeper still
As You call me deeper still
As You call me deeper still
Into love, love, love
You’re a good good Father
It’s who You are, it’s who You are, it’s who You are
And I’m loved by You
It’s who I am, it’s who I am, it’s who I am
You’re a good good Father
It’s who You are, it’s who You are, it’s who You are
And I’m loved by You
It’s who I am, it’s who I am, it’s who I am
You’re a good good Father
You are perfect in all of Your ways
You are perfect in all of Your ways
You are perfect in all of Your ways

This past June 2016 my 12 year daughter and I went on a Church mission trip to WI. I had never been on one and she was anxious going alone, so I decided to go and be a leader and experience this with her. . Being a single Mom and also one of a special needs son I decided to go and trust my son would be in good hands with family. My amazing boyfriend of 9 years had broken up with me several months before, but I was still struggling as it was an extremely difficult break up, since I was a fault for it and the kids and I were all taking it very hard. This was a time that I turned to God like I had never done or experienced before. On the mission trip we had some time to choice an activity to do and one was to listen to music to pray, think or whatever we needed. Ten or so us chose that activity and the music started and it was quiet and I was embracing the music the lyrics, thinking about where I had gone wrong with my recent break up, the impact on my children and how I was going to find strength to keep moving forward with this enormous pain and void in my life. The next song played was “Good Good Father by Chris Tomlin. I had several of my girls with me that I was the leader of, so I was trying to keep my head down as I cried.. As the song played and I listened ever so closely to the lyrics the tears started and I could not stop. As I sat there I felt an arm around me and another on my leg just holding me, it was another leader from a different Church, without saying a word just let me cry. The lyrics were fitting for my life and then I heard that profound sentence I will never forgot “You are never alone.” I still tear up listening to this song. What I experienced that day was nothing short of blessed and amazing. That day will forever be etched in my heart, the friend from North Dakota that came to me that day will forever be my friend. I am thankful that day that my Leader from the Mission trip played that song and it gave me the strength and belief in myself that I would somehow manage to get through the void in my life. It changed me and my trust in God and I know now that I thought I was there for my daughter, but I was also there for me, I just didn’t know it when I signed up.
