Backyard Bible Clubs Week 6 (CEF)

All Day Event

As our communities begin to open back up, we are going to have an opportunity like never before to reach the kids in our community with the Gospel. We are now hearing of more and more churches having to cancel their VBS program for the summer, but I know many are still wanting to reach these kids. Our ministry can partner with Christians to have an opportunity to run a small, socially distanced, backyard Bible club, called a 5-Day Club. A 5-Day Club is an exciting, fun-filled 90 minute event held each day for five consecutive days. The clubs include dynamic Bible lessons, creative learning activities, inspiring missionary story, meaningful songs, and life-changing Scripture memorization. 5-Day Clubs are open to all boys and girls between the ages of five and twelve, regardless of religious background. These clubs are run by Christians who are passionate to bring the Gospel to young children. We would like to invite you to either attend or host one of these exciting clubs.

First Practice!

6:15 PM - 6:55 PM

Do you play a Trumpet? An Oboe? Tuba, Trombone, French Horn? Are you a Percussionist? First Baptist Church in Rosemount, MN, is starting up their Orchestra Ministry again in September after a long 6 month pause due to covid. I am a first time, and very green, Orchestra Director and we need some additional musicians for our Orchestra. Specifically, I am needing Horns, an Oboe, Percussionists, Saxophones of all types, a Trombone/Baritone or two, two or three Trumpets and a Tuba. We currently have two or three Trumpets, a couple of Trombones, a Tuba, a Saxophone, Flutes, Clarinets and a Bassoon. We would, of course, consider anyone who would want to be involved and as you can see, we aren't starting from scratch. Today, many churches have eliminated their Orchestra in favor of a worship band, leaving many musicians without a place to serve in the church. I would absolutely be so honored if you would consider joining our Orchestra as we serve our Lord with music. Practice will begin on Wednesday September 9th at 6:15. Practice time will always be on Wednesday's. Our Orchestra plays every Sunday Morning and Sunday Evening during service. This of course in a voluntary ministry and you are not required to be in the Orchestra during every service. We also will perform Orchestra only specials and Orchestra/Choir combination specials. We are a very active ministry. Please contact me directly at 612-251-5519. Please leave a text or voice message if you don't reach me. My name is Gary Manthey and I look forward to meeting you!!

Courageous and Compassionate Conversations for Contentious Times

7:00 PM - 9:00 PM

How can we have meaningful, transformative dialogue across sociopolitical and ideological divides? How can we treat others with respect and uphold their humanity even when we vehemently disagree? How can we persist in advocating for social change especially racial equity and justice in our current context? In this four-part online course, we will explore these questions and more from the perspective of compassionate (or, nonviolent) communication. Topics include: The Basics of Speaking with Courage and Compassion Speaking Up (Instead of Remaining Silent) Transforming Our Enemy Images Persisting in Conversation When it Gets Tough This class will meet virtually via Zoom 7-8pm on the following days: September 10, 17, 24 and October 1 Participants will receive handouts and links to additional reading before each class. Facilitated by Reverend Dr. Theresa Latini, Executive Director of Mount Olivet Conference & Retreat Center, and co-author of Transforming Church Conflict: Compassionate Leadership in Action. Theresa has consulted with congregations and conflicted groups for over a decade and applied the skills of nonviolent communication to the work of diversity and cultural competency in her prior work as a seminary professor and administrator.
