Voices of Reentry-Film Screening and Panel Discussion

7:00 PM - 9:00 PM

Alpha Emergence Behavioral Health is pleased to host the first Minnesota screening of the documentary "Voices of Reentry" on June 1 at 7PM. Each year, over 600,000 people return from jail or prison to our communities, where they face countless barriers to employment, housing, and reintegration. The film explores the challenges of reentry and the role communities can play in reducing these barriers. Viewers will hear from four storytellers–George, Shaquan, Sing and Armando–who share portions of their life stories, illuminating the common threads that run through the experiences of many of the over two million people incarcerated in the U.S. This event will include a screening of the film (40 minutes), followed by a conversation between the audience and one or more of the film’s storytellers, local providers of reentry support services, and formerly incarcerated members of our community. Tickets are free to the event, but we are accepting donations at the time you reserve your ticket, either through Eventbrite or via a direct, tax deductible donation on our website. Any donations will DIRECTLY support men and women as they reintegrate.

Dinner at Breakthrough Equipping Center

4:30 PM - 7:30 PM

Breakthrough Food Ministry provides opportunities for individuals or groups to serve dinner to the homeless and less fortunate, on Sundays and Tuesdays at our Breakthrough Equipping Center (a.k.a. BEC), downtown Minneapolis! It's just a 3-hour commitment, but we believe it has eternal impact on both volunteers and guests. After dinner we invite the guests to join us for Service where we worship, have communion, and hear a message. The Holy Spirit is alive and active, as we have seen many healings, so please come up for prayer, too. "Every time you give to the poor, you make a loan to the Lord. Don't worry-you'll be repaid in full for all the good you've done."- Proverbs 19:17 This is a great opportunity for individuals, families, small groups, churches, etc., to serve together.
