All about the story of “Still Waters (Psalm 23)” straight from Leanna Crawford herself.
“This song is incredibly special to me because it was inspired by the woman who led my mom to Jesus: my 103-year-old great Aunt Marine. When my great aunt was in her 40s, she learned that she was going blind, so she decided to memorize the entire Bible before her sight left her. She didn’t end up memorizing the whole thing, but she got about 90% of it, which I think is pretty incredible. I truly believe that’s what kept her mind so sharp and kept her so joyful through all those years.
I only got to meet her once, but it really did change my life forever and how I view God’s Word. I learned how the Bible is living and active and there is Scripture for every joyful, painful, and in-between moment in our lives.
Psalm 23 is the passage I say to myself when I’m feeling anxious. When I’m walking through a dark valley, I remember that the Lord is my shepherd. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. I hope this song inspires you to dive deeper into God’s Word and to hide it in your heart.”
