Carter and Kaylee were highschoolers who had been dating for quite awhile. So long, in fact, that their families had become close. Carter’s dad thought of Kaylee almost like a daughter.

Of course the couple were planning to go to prom and Kaylee even had her dress ready.

Sadly, Carter died in a car accident. Kaylee and the two families were devastated.

As the date of prom approached. Carter’s dad, Rob, learned that Kaylee wasn’t planning to go. Carter’s dad stepped in and asked if he could take her.

Rob may have been a bit older than the others, but but that didn’t matter as Kaylee held his extended elbow, both of their heads held high and tears in their eyes knowing this is what Carter would have wanted.

It wasn’t the prom that they had planned on, but it was the one they needed!
