“I ask of you O Lord, give me neither poverty nor riches but give me only my daily bread.”
– Proverbs 30:7-8
Remember that classic song “If I Had A Million Dollars”? How old do we feel saying that it is now classic? Well, I’ve got to admit, I love imagining what I would do with that much money, and I think that would set me up for life.
The problem with trusting money is it becomes our master and enslaves us. It makes us desperate to learn how to make more of it – and how to keep more of it – instead of following the One who created us.
In the Israelites’ toughest moment of wandering through the desert for 40 years, God gave them their daily bread. There was food for them every day.
It can feel impossible to trust God that much, but would you rather trust pieces of paper or the Creator of the universe?
