If you have a spiritual or emotional fog, sometimes you just need a little change in perspective.

I found that on my vacation when my family went to Mexico. We didn’t stay at an all-inclusive resort, we were actually in someone’s house in the mountains outside of town, and I saw something that I have never experienced before.

When you’re far away from the lights of the big city, you can see so much more in the sky at night, and the only the way I can describe my sights every night when I walked out onto the balcony and looked heavenward is that there were the “stars between the stars.”

You can see the major constellations here in the Twin Cities, but looking out in the wilderness I saw the lights that are between the big lights.  In that moment, I felt God speaking to me some words from the classic hymn that you may remember:

Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
In the light of His glory and grace.
