I don’t know if you’ve ever had this experience, but if you’ve ever said to yourself you were just going to ‘check one thing’ on your phone – and then you look up and realize you’ve been on it for an hour, there’s a reason why.  One of the early investors in Facebook has admitted that they made it “addictive.”

So how do we disconnect?  You probably need your phone when you’re out and about, but at home, try this simple tip:  Treat your cell phone like an old-school land line:

  • Turn off all notifications other than calls.
  • Turn the ringer on full blast.
  • Plug it into the outlet.
  • Leave it there!

I’m trying this too.  I think we will all be shocked how much more time we have in our day when we connect to the things that really matter!
