Thy Will Lyrics

I’m so confused
I know I heard you loud and clear
So, I followed through
Somehow I ended up here

I don’t wanna think
I may never understand
That my broken heart is a part of your plan
When I try to pray
All I got is hurt and these four words

Thy will be done (x3)

I know you’re good
But this don’t feel good right now
And I know you think
Of things I could never think about

It’s hard to count it all joy
Distracted by the noise
Just trying to make sense
Of all your promises
Sometimes I gotta stop
Remember that you’re God
And I am not
So

Thy will be done (X3)
Like a child on my knees all that comes to me is
Thy will be done (X2)
Thy will

I know you see me
I know you hear me, Lord
Your plans are for me
Goodness you have in store

I know you hear me
I know you see me, Lord
Your plans are for me
Goodness you have in store
So

Thy will be done (X3)
Like a child on my knees
All that comes to me is
Thy will be done (X3)

I know you see me
I know you hear me, Lord

2 stories about "Thy Will"

  • I am the eldest sister. It is not an easy job. I did not choose it, but it was given to me. Two weeks ago I had to watch my youngest sister go through a heart breaking, life changing experience. I could not change it. I could not fix it. All I could do was pray for her and support her as she and her family tried to deal with the sudden death of their 11-year old daughter.
September 9, 2016 was a day my two nieces had anticipated. They were on their way to their first home school coop classes of the year. Right before they left, the younger daughter realized she forgot something and went back into the house to retrieve it. Her older sister decided to switch seats with her while she was gone. As I reflect, I can’t help but wonder what sparked this big sister to make that change. Did she have any inkling that her actions would save the life of her little sister?
They were on their way when “Thy Will” by Hillary Scott came over the radio (98.5 KTIS). The emerging preteen in the car was accustomed to preferring artists like Toby Mac. She surprised her mother by commenting that she liked this song.
Not five miles from home, their car was hit by another vehicle. The big sister in me cannot comprehend what my little sister went through: pulling her 2 daughters from her overturned vehicle in a muddy ditch, setting one aside and trying to save the life of the other.
As plans were being made for the memorial service, my sister remembered her precious daughters comments about “Thy Will” minutes before the accident. This song selection was confirmed the next day when she and her husband went to see their mangled car. While they were there they decided to see if it would start to retrieve her daughters favorite CD from the player. The instant they turned the key the radio started playing “Thy Will”, as if cued just for them. Through their tears they received ministry from its lyrics and confirmed their decision about including it in the service.
Over 700 people attended this precious 11-year old’s memorial service. Anyone there would tell you that the musical climax to the service was the rendition of this song beautifully sung by a woman from their church.
“Thy Will” has been affectionately renamed “Brooklyn’s Song” for the members of my family. I know it will continue to minister to my little sister and her family as they learn to live life with one heavenly daughter and one earthly daughter.
