Overcomer

Mandisa

Staring at a stop sign
Watching people drive by
T Mac on the radio
Got so much on your mind
Nothing’s really going right
Looking for a ray of hope

Whatever it is you may be going through
I know He’s not gonna let it get the best of you

You’re an overcomer
Stay in the fight ‘til the final round
You’re not going under
‘Cause God is holding you right now
You might be down for a moment
Feeling like it’s hopeless
That’s when He reminds You
That you’re an overcomer
You’re an overcomer

Everybody’s been down
Hit the bottom, hit the ground
Oh, you’re not alone
Just take a breath, don’t forget
Hang on to His promises
He wants You to know

The same Man, the Great I am
The one who overcame death
Is living inside of You
So just hold tight, fix your eyes
On the one who holds your life
There’s nothing He can’t do
He’s telling You

  • Shaomeng says:

I’ve been going through some really tough patches in my life. Impacting my family, my wife, my work and my friends. This song has given me courage to keep fighting and that in the midst of it all, God is still fighting for me too. I can overcome these battle because he has promised His spirit to be with us and to never forsake us.

  • Ajay says:

I had just come from my drug store; having had the intention to pick up the prescriptions waiting for me, only to find I am in the ‘donut hole’ Medicare drug coverage gap & the $$$ needed are way more then I can afford right now. I was doing errands for my Dad, & this song came on & I know somehow this will turn out okay. I’ve been here before, and it helped to hear this song to remind me~that God got me through it once, and will do so again.

  • Melanie says:

I listen to this song multiple times a day now. About 4 months ago my teenage daughter was being bullied so bad she tried to take her life three times. I saved her EVERY time. God spoke to me and I protected her. The first time I heard Overcomer, I called my daughter in my room and we both sat there crying, knowing that she is an overcomer and a fighter. Her journey has been long and tough and it’s not over yet, but we gather hope in God everyday. Thank you Mandisa!

  • Julie says:

I just got home from my 4th foot surgery late this afternoon. My good friend bought me this CD just before going to the hospital today and I love Mandisa. I have been listening since the song came out. Now having the CD, I will listen all the time. I will be laid up here at home not being able to move much for the next few days at all. But I will overcome this obstacle just like before. I will be able to walk and eventually run a 5K without pain (that is my goal)!! Thank you God and KTIS for Prayer Works too!!

  • Jeanne says:

I broke up a relationship after almost two years, someone I was in love with, he announced to me he had been playing around with other women, sexually, I had a pit in my stomach earlier that day as he was spending lots of time on his phone and outside going for walks as he did when our relationship started right before he left his wife. I tried ending it many times but he said “NO” he didn’t want to lose me. Well after he humiliated me on a family weekend I left and decided I was going to lose some weight and start exercising in the mornings. I had two days off and no better time to start. I turned my radio on and the first song that came on was Mandisa’s ” Overcomer” I couldn’t have needed that more at that moment and I knew I was going to be ok. Thank You Mandisa! I love you!

I am going through some tough times. This is an awesome song reminding me the trial I am going through is not the worst (even though it feels so to me). Thank you Lord for the reminder that you are with us no matter what. With God all things are possible. yes, I forget about that sometimes…

Tears fill my eyes as I see these wonderful people that have overcome. Depression has been a part of my life for over 30 years and I am trying another treatment feeling this could be it. You have inspired me to keep asking and praying for the right thing for this cloud. The cloud that has God as the silver lining.

  • Amy says:

I was just diagnosed with Breast Cancer which has also spread to my lymph nodes and spine. I liked this song when it came out. Now, I need it regularly. What an awesome woman she is to share her gift with us.

  • Julia says:

The first time I heard ‘Overcommer’, it struck a very strong chord, right to my heart. At (almost) 60, I find myself looking back a lot and there were so many times I reached the end of my rope, only to have God remind me who I am. He has given me strength to overcome depression, rejection, my sister’s suicide, and my own many mistakes. I know he will always be with me, because I am an overcommer too!

The first time I heard ‘over comer,’ I was on my way to the hospital to see my very sick dad. My sister said, ‘this song is for you & dad.’ My dad has since passed on. This song gives me the courage to carry on!

I love this song! It’s full of strength and encouragement. My husband is going through Stage IV colon cancer with indefinite chemo treatments every other week. It’s hard to endure however, I always reach for this song when I need a push to get strong. I’m so grateful it’s available anytime I need it on line. the song helps me to be strong for my young family. We are overcommers holding onto his promises!

  • Courtney Boisjolie says:

I have heard this song on the radio multiple times over the past month, but it only really just hit me hearing it this morning now. I have been battling depression for the past couple months and I have been talking with my family about it. I had a long conversation with my mom last night and she said that it might not go away overnight, but I have to try to stay positive, which has been super hard for me the past few months. She told me to keep praying and she would too. And that God has his ways of working and I just have to trust in what he has planned. So, I took her advice and came into work today with the intent of being as positive as I can be today. Then I heard this song and really listened to it this time and realized this must be God speaking to me today saying that I can and will overcome this with Him by my side. It gives me some hope! Thanks for playing this song!
