Shoe Drive Fundraiser- Walk a Mile in MY Shoes

All Day Event

Got shoes? Your shoes can help end extreme poverty for families in rural Tanzania, Africa! Check the shoe drive site for drop off locations http://ourshoedrive.com/food-for-his-children/. Food for His Children is collecting 25,000 pairs of new and gently used shoes, boots and sandals to help us fund our community development program in Tanzania, Africa which serves over 3000 people. Food for His Children provides training, a dairy goat and one to one support to help families achieve their goals of starting a business and income to provide food, clothes, shelter, medical care and education for their children. Ask friends and family to help you collect 25 pairs of shoes to drop off. Every shoe is a step closer to freedom from generational poverty! Volunteers needed for collection and sorting shoes. Great for youth groups, families, Scouts, and National Honor Society students.

Mission Pumpkin Patch

All Day Event

Come get your pumpkins and make a difference! All of the proceeds from River Hills United Methodist Church Pumpkin Patch go to several missions: UMCOR (hurricane relief), Sioux Trail Elementary School, Angel Foundation, and River Hills Youth Mission Trip. Join us for special events such as Paint in the Patch (Wed, Oct 10 from 6:30-7:45pm), Patch Party (Sun, Oct 21 from 12:15-2:15pm), and Trunk or Treat (Wed, Oct 31 from 6:30-7:30pm). Gracie's Cupcake Trot

Cakes From Grace creates custom dream cakes for kids/families living with congenital heart defects. Delivering to hospitals while kids wait for a heart transplant, celebrating coming home after months in the hospital, celebrating milestones and post surgery recovery, etc. These cakes are created to make these kids' day, to give them something to celebrate with and taking away that expense and planning from Mom and Dad. We started Cakes From Grace after our 82 day old daughter Gracie passed away from a CHD. Gracie’s Cupcake Trot is a USDA certified 5K run/walk, silent auction and family fun held at Bunker Hills Activity Center in Andover MN. This is our 5th Annual. All funds from the auction and 5K entry goes straight to making these cakes throughout the year

Twin Cities Harvest Festival and Maze

At nearly 20 acres, Twin Cities Harvest Festival and Maze boasts Minnesota’s largest corn maze. This year’s maze offers visitors a chance to celebrate the Minnesota Timberwolves and their 30th exciting season of basketball with a Timberwolves-themed maze design and trivia questions about the team placed throughout it. In addition to walking the maze, visitors can also jump in the corn pit, stroll through the straw bale maze, and enjoy live music, a petting zoo, a hayride, inflatables, a giant slide, and much more. The maze is open from 10 am- 6 pm Saturdays and Sundays from Sept. 22 through Oct. 28 including MEA (Thurs., Oct. 18 and Fri., Oct. 19). Pumpkin Patch Party

Join us at River Hills United Methodist Church Pumpkin Patch for our annual Patch Party! Join us for lunch and an afternoon of fun. We’ll have a petting zoo, bouncer, and games for the kids, but don’t worry - there will be plenty for adults to do as well! You can bid in the silent auction, vote in the dessert competition, and more. You can also shop for pumpkins! The proceeds from this event will support the Youth Mission Trip. WALK WHEN THE MOON IS FULL

6:30 PM - 8:00 PM

(AGES 7 AND UP WITH ADULT, SMALL SCOUT TROOPS WELCOME!) Hike by the light of the moon, learn some fun facts about the moon, and c’mon outside as we enjoy the moonshadows of the trees and breathe the brisk air! Back at the nature center enjoy a cup of hot cider as we listen to stories from Ojibwe, Dakota and other cultures! Dress for the weather, and bring a mug!
