If you’ve ever felt the love and companionship of a pet you may know how hard it is to say goodbye.

It was with broken hearts that we said goodbye to our sweet friend and protector Mr. Gomer. He was a squirrel chaser, walk lover, treat beggar, snow plower and buddy to Gidget for 17 years and Lily for almost 2. He was the most handsome and soft Westie with the BEST ears that ever lived. We were rewarded with 18.5 years of love, funny antics and sweet snuggles. He was 5 when John, my first husband died and didn’t leave me alone for a minute. He wasn’t real happy when Tim came along but grew to love him too after I remarried in 2014. We held Mr. Gomer in our arms to his last breath.

It’s heartbreaking, but the last gesture of love that a pet owner can do to take away the fear and the pain. I also agree with the late Reverend Billy Graham who famously said, “God wants Heaven to be a perfect place for me and if it takes my dog being there he will be.” Thank you Gomer for picking us. Thank you for being an example of unconditional love and grace on Earth. God knew what he was doing when he created you. We love you forever.

  • So sorry to hear abut the loss of sweet Gomer; it is like losing a member of the family. However, “all dogs go to Heaven” and he will come running across a field of lavender to meet you when you arrive there, as well:)

So sorry for your loss. I had to put my dear cat to sleep in March that I had for almost 12 years, from the time she was 8 weeks old. I strongly believe she helped me heal last summer when I broke my foot. Your Mr. Gomer looked like a sweetheart of a dog. 🙂
