Longing for simpler times
By: Keith Stevens
Taking time to reflect on life is so good to do. I especially like to spend some quiet time on a Saturday or Sunday morning in Autumn with my bible, a notebook and pen.
Right now I’m going through old slides of my parents to make digital copies. If you’ve ever searched through old photos you know it’s never a quick process. Each picture conjures up special memories; times in life when things were different, simpler, and a little slower paced.
That’s why I like this new song so much from my friend David Dunn. It is a reminder of when there was a simplicity to our faith. The verse that comes to mind for me is when Jesus says: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 18:3.
That simple, unabashed faith from when we were kids. When we sang, “Jesus loves me this I know” and believed it. In a world where I can become so set in my ways, or doubtful, or only viewing things through my own lens, I think it’s time for me to recapture childlike faith again.
Maybe this video and new song from David Dunn will stir something inside of you too.
